Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner /reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert .
Fabric Description: This lightweight fabric is a traditional cotton fabric derived from a yukata (summer cotton kimono); the fabric is only slightly translucent with the background color being black with six 1 inch/2.54 cm. thick vertical (warp)bands comprised of pinstripes that are dark brown, off-white and gray threads; The vertical (warp)bands are about 1.25 inches/31.75cm apart; please see close-ups; same on both sides.
Fabric Type: Still slightly firm, the fabric softens with wash. (hand-wash separately, with lukewarm water-- see our ).
